Powered By Partnership

Nebraska Defense Research Corporation (NDRC) serves as the REACH PIA Partner Intermediary.

As a 501(c)(3) non-profit affiliate of the University of Nebraska, NDRC supports technology transfer through prototyping and demonstrations for the Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications (NC3) Enterprise Center in coordination with the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center.

The PIA offers a number of benefits for NDRC and its collaborative partners:

  • NDRC can engage academia and industry on behalf of the government to accelerate tech transfer and licensing
  • The government is able to pay for services to support tech transfer
  • NDRC can serve as an objective third-party broker between the government and industry to increase opportunities for commercializing new capabilities.
  • NDRC can engage in proactive marketing of government-owned technologies to industry to enable tech transition/tech insertion.

How NDRC Operates

University Affiliate & State Governance

The Nebraska Defense Research Corporation (NDRC), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit registered in Nebraska and affiliated with the University of Nebraska through the University Technology Development Corporation, focuses on accelerating technology transfer. By collaborating with academia, industry, and government, NDRC and UTDC drive the development of innovative pilot projects and capability demonstrations. These initiatives directly bolster the Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications (NC3) Enterprise Center and foster close partnerships with the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center—reinforcing the connection between academic research, national security needs, and economic development in Nebraska.

REACH Partnerships — Industry & Small Business

REACH Partnerships are essential for effective national security collaboration, rooted in trust between Industry and Small Businesses. Achieving results requires operational excellence, proactive adaptation to evolving needs, and transparent, timely communication. NDRC endeavors to find new companies for the REACH Alliance Partnership for capability demonstrations, emerging technology insights, innovation and ideas that can provide critical information to government sponsors for future C3 capability needs—and enable innovation for our government partners.

Academic Partnerships — Pipeline & Education

NDRC’s mission is to drive innovation and deliver advanced technology to the Warfighter while developing a skilled, future-ready workforce. Through academic partnerships, internship programs, and collaboration with public and private sector stakeholders, NDRC cultivates STEM talent and supports national security objectives. These efforts ensure the nation’s ongoing technological leadership.

iREACH — Infrastructure & Operations

The iREACH Facility infrastructure accelerates technology transfer by providing a comprehensive suite of fixed and mobile capabilities that foster innovation and collaboration. Through these advanced resources, NDRC enhances both strategic and operational support for the C3 enterprise. The facility’s collaborative environment enables rapid identification, development, and deployment of emerging technologies in critical domains such as quantum computing, machine learning and AI, resilient command and control, electromagnetic spectrum operations, cybersecurity, cyber sensing, supply chain risk management, software and hardware assurance, secure communications and network design, advanced modeling and simulation, and pilot project demonstrations.

Key National Security Stakeholders

At the Nebraska Defense Research Corporation, we collaborate with key stakeholders in national security to explore, advance, and implement cutting-edge technologies. In today's environment, where national security faces an increasing array of threats, it is more critical than ever to engage these stakeholders. National security is not a single issue; it encompasses a complex network of challenges that require collaboration and diverse perspectives from contributors. Our focus includes essential areas such as quantum computing, machine learning, artificial intelligence, resilient command-and-control systems, and electromagnetic spectrum operations. We also address important issues related to cybersecurity, cyber sensing, supply chain risk management, and the assurance of both software and hardware. With a commitment to secure communications, advanced modeling and simulation, and pilot project demonstrations, we are at the forefront of innovation in national security. By working together, we can tackle these emerging challenges and create a safer future.
